THE MICHIGAN ARROWS Continental Football League (1965 - 1969) THE MICHIGAN ARROWS The Michigan Arrows joined the Continental Football League in 1968 along with new franchises in Indianapolis (Capitals) and Little Rock (Arkansas Diamonds). They played at the University of Detroit Stadium which could hold up to 25,000 spectators (U. of D. dropped its football program in 1964). This lead to the Arrows often being called the “Detroit Arrows”. The fact that their uniforms were “hand-me downs” from the Detroit Lions didn’t help! The Arrows most famous players was Garo Yepremian, a soccer style kicker who later found fame in the Super Bowls as a member of the NFL’s Miami Dolphins. The Arrows only lasted one year in the league, and became the Tri-City Apollos (based out of Midland, MI) for the league’s final year in 1969. The demise of the league was blamed on the lack of spectators and inability to appeal to television audiences. | The Michigan ArrowsThe American Apparel Tri-Blend is the softest, comfiest, and best t-shirt out there.
